Course Objective – Introduction to Anatomy & Physiology with Medical Terminology for Healthcare

Upon successful completion of this course, students will develop a foundational understanding of human anatomy and physiology while mastering the essential medical terminology used in healthcare settings. Students will examine the structure and function of the body's major organ systems, learn the language of medicine, and apply medical vocabulary to clinical scenarios. Through interactive instruction and practical activities, students will build the knowledge and confidence needed to pursue healthcare education and entry-level careers in the medical field.

Student Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

• Identify the structure and function of the major human body systems.
• Demonstrate an understanding of anatomical position, body planes, directional terms, and medical abbreviations.
• Apply medical terminology by analyzing prefixes, suffixes, root words, and combining forms.
• Explain how body systems work together to maintain homeostasis.
• Recognize common diseases, disorders, and medical conditions affecting each body system.
• Accurately pronounce, spell, and use medical terminology in healthcare contexts.
• Interpret basic medical records, charts, and healthcare documentation using appropriate medical language.
• Apply anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology knowledge to patient care scenarios and healthcare case studies.
• Demonstrate professionalism, critical thinking, and effective communication skills appropriate for healthcare careers.
