This capstone course prepares students to assist with instructional activities and introduces a variety of careers in education. Students study such topics as standards and licensing regulations; operational procedures; emergency and disaster procedures; child growth and development; positive interaction, guidance and discipline; developmentally appropriate practices; nutrition; health and safety; instructional assistance; supervision; recreational activities; clerical work; use of computers and educational technology; and professionalism. Course titles may include: Educational Practices or Becoming a Teacher or Paraeducator/Instructional Assistant Course.
